Student Grievances Information for Students
If you have been discriminated against or harassed by a member of staff or another student because of your race, religion, sexuality, age, disability or gender, you can come to us for advice and assistance. UNSW takes allegations of harassment and discrimination very seriously. If you think you have a genuine grievance, it is important to read the UNSW discrimination and harassment policies and grievance procedures. These are available at http://www.policy.unsw.edu.au/policy/studegrv.htm. If you decide you wish to pursue the matter, please make an appointment with one of our Equity Officers. All appointments are free and confidential. The University takes all allegations of harassment and discrimination very seriously. The Student Equity and Disabilities Unit (SEADU) provides advice to staff on all matters relating to student discrimination and harassment that are covered by UNSW Anti-discrimination and Harassment policies. If a student claims that he or she has been discriminated against or harassed on grounds of race, religion, sexuality, age, disability or gender, please seek advice from us or ask the student to come and see us. The grounds for discrimination and harassment are clearly set out in Commonwealth and State Anti-Discrimination legislation. These grounds form the basis for the University’s policy: http://www.policy.unsw.edu.au/policy/staffgrv.htm.
If you believe you have been harassed or discriminated against as a staff member, either by the University or by a student, contact the Staff Equity office for advice: Lisa O'Dwyer, Staff Equity Officer, in Human Resources via telephone: 9385 2736 or email at l.odwyer@unsw.edu.au |
